Biography
Frederick August Jose is a partner in Quisumbing Torres’ Intellectual Property, Data and Technology Practice Group and Technology, Media & Telecommunications. He has 12 years of experience in a wide range of IP and IT corporate and litigation matters.
Frederick is a Certified Information Privacy Professional for Europe by the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP). He has been appointed as a member of the Co-Existence Agreement Sub-Committee of the International Trademark Association (INTA) for the term 2022 to 2023. He actively participates as a speaker in various regional and local seminars and trainings on IP, IT and data privacy in the Philippines. He also teaches summer law courses, and Intellectual Property Law.
Practice Focus
Frederick’s practice focuses on intellectual property and information technology. He primarily assists and advises clients on IP enforcement, trademark portfolio management, and IT-related matters. He also counsels clients on Food and Drug Administration queries, technology transfer regulations, privacy laws, telecommunications, advertising regulations, and media law-related concerns. He actively participates as a speaker in various regional and local seminars and trainings on IP enforcement and data privacy in the Philippines. He also teaches summer law courses, and Intellectual Property Law.

Assist Chinese manufacturer of mobile phones in reviewing patent licensing agreement, representation in patent infringement cases, providing data privacy advice.
Assist and advise Chinese technology company, operating various content platforms, in conducting legal due diligence of its various products and services, and review of its policies, draft contracts, agreements, and assist in its local data privacy compliance.
Assist an American aerospace company in setting up in the Philippines, obtaining appropriate permit and licenses, advising / conducting due diligence on potential local partners/ distributors, and reviewing relevant agreements for local law compliance.
Assist leading regional ride-hailing app in IP enforcement, handling of data privacy complaints/ cases, and dealing with various legal issues arising from local marketing/advertisements/ promotions.
Advise U.S.-based automobile company in addressing unauthorized use of its brand and company name in the tractors sold by a former local distributor.
Assist leading U.S. designer, manufacturer, and seller of gasoline engines in IP cancellation/ enforcement cases arising from local company's breach of distribution agreement.
